Consider these points before buying a pre-owned Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep® Grand Cherokee is the ultimate combination of style and power. There are a number of features that make this SUV stand out from the rest of its competitors. It is so popular that many consider buying pre-owned trim variants. While it is considerably cheaper to buy and pay for a pre-owned vehicle, you must have good knowledge about the current condition of the vehicle. It needs to pass certain inspections before being deemed worthy of driving after purchase.

Here are some of the most important points to consider at the nearest Jeep® Grand Cherokee sale before singing on that title deed.

    Check the exterior
Since a jeep is mostly built for some serious off-road and rough terrain driving, it pays to check the exterior. Look for signs of wear on every inch of the chassis, and under the vehicle. The older the jeep, the more rust it will have accumulated over the years on the undercarriage. So, it is better to consider a used Jeep® Grand Cherokee that has been driven for a lesser number of miles. It is also crucial to check the frame around the windshield, hood, and fenders to identify any dings and damage due to off-roading.

    Check under the hood
The engine is one of the most crucial components of any vehicle. And more so for a pre-owned one because the car has been driven for a number of miles before the owner decides to part with it. Ask for proper maintenance and repair records directly from the seller. Check if there has been any major engine work done most recently as it could indicate a more permanent engine problem that requires replacement. It is advisable to have a certified mechanic check the engine and transmission assembly.

    Take a test drive
It doesn’t matter if the jeep you plan to buy has been driven on rough terrain for a few years or smooth paved roads for a greater part of its use. The mileage will be fairly relative despite different driving conditions. What matters is the present condition of the vehicle and the only one way to determine the same is a test drive. Hire a certified technician who can also drive and assess the condition of the used Jeep® Grand Cherokee available for sale. After all, pre-owned premium vehicles are also quite expensive, and when you pay top dollar, you’d better get a good deal for the price.

Check if it’s a unibody or not
Several trim variants of the Jeep® Grand Cherokee feature a unibody build that means the upper chassis and frame are the same. They are lighter, roomier, and flexible for modifications. You can consider the unibody trim variants while shopping for a pre-owned Jeep® Grand Cherokee available for sale.

What does the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 have to offer in 2020

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 definitely deserves to earn the title of Pickup of the Year for three simple reasons: powertrain, towing capacity, and advanced technology. A few subtle changes done to the Silverado 2019 has resulted in Chevrolet introducing a supreme workhorse in the heavy hauling market. Multiple engine options, trim variants, and customization make it a pickup worth the price tag.

Let us explore what all the Silverado has to offer in 2020.

    Powertrain
When it comes to power, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 really ups the ante this time with multiple engine options. Right from the highly fuel-efficient Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel to the more powerful 6.2L V8, you can pick a powertrain of your choice depending on your load requirements. Most trim variants feature multiple engines that you can select and confirm for the build. Choose the right motor and you’ve got yourself a sweet ride to haul heavy loads running cross country. The dynamic fuel management system helps you save dollars on the gallon, making the Silverado a popular choice among pickup trucks.

    Towing capacity
One of the major changes done to improve the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the increase of the payload and towing capabilities. And the biggest engine block, the 6.2L V8 EcoTec3 engine, does a stellar job of managing a 2250 lbs.-payload on the truck bed or trailering 13400 lbs. for long distances. While doing this, the pickup still maintains a healthy fuel economy.

    Trim variants
The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers eight trim variants. The High Country trim is a great choice for rough terrain and uphill driving with an improved and externally-enhanced chassis. The LTZ is a premium variant that shines (literally) with a beautiful chrome finish and aluminum wheels. The LT Trail Boss is an excellent off-road driving variant that can tackle the terrain and handle the weather elements. The RST is a street show stopper with a beautiful design and color scheme. For a classic look and drive, the LT is one of the popular and standard choices among trims. When you are serious about your hauling needs, customization is key, and that is exactly what the Custom Trail Boss offers. The base custom option is also a better improvement on the original Silverado 1500. Finally, the Silverado Work Truck is your best urban drive option.

    Infotainment system
The central control dashboard controls all the electronics and peripherals attached to the infotainment system. Among notable features are the in-vehicle trailering system, trailering tech, and the myChevrolet Mobile app that can be synced to the entire system. You can monitor your trailer on the go without the need to stop and check tire pressure, battery, and vital electrical connections. All the information is available in real-time on-screen inside the air-conditioned cab. The high-tech trailer features also offer assists while driving to improve trailer traction and control. Best of all, access updated pickup and trailer info at all times using the smartphone application.

4 things to consider when buying an old Corvette on sale

Widely regarded as America’s sports car, General Motors initially unveiled the Corvette concept back in 1953. Although the first car, which was named C1, didn’t really do well from a commercial perspective, it kickstarted a legacy that has made Corvettes the most prestigious sports car in the country.

The power, transmission, and pace offered by different Corvette models are easily one of the best in the segment; making it very difficult to resist the possibility of buying an old one, let alone one fresh from the showroom. That being said, there are more than a few things to note if you are buying an old Corvette on sale.

    Bring the right mechanic

A thorough inspection is really important when it comes to buying old cars. The same applies to Corvettes as well, and someone with expertise on the range would be an ideal candidate. A pre-purchase inspection would enable the mechanic to understand whether the Corvette was driven too hard, has the engine been replaced, and how the breaks are holding up. Making a list of questions and handing it over to him would be even better, as it would help him understand what is it that you are really looking for from the car.

    The reputation of the model

Like any car, Corvettes too had some good and bad versions. The 1967-1969 Corvette L88, 1990-1995 Corvette ZR-1 and 2009-2013 Corvette ZR1 among others, for instance, were all terrific in their own way and blew away the market at the time. However, the 1987 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette, 1979 Corvette L48 and even the 1958 Corvette C1 among others, struggled to have an impact. 1984 Corvettes are also renowned for a host of problems largely because they were entirely redesigned after the complete failure of 1983 Corvettes. Therefore, thorough research is absolutely necessary when opting to buy a specific Corvette model.

    Horsepower problem in the mid-70s

Corvettes are synonymous with power and transmission but this is something that the mid-1970s Corvettes seriously lacked. The 1975 Corvette base model delivered an embarrassing 165 horsepower, with its powertrain downsized from the 1974 model. The 1979 L48 also delivered similar results, although somehow managed to generate record sales. The energy crisis at that time caused serious havoc worldwide and was the primary reason behind Corvettes and almost any car for that matter, lacking power.

Avoid models with big block motors
After having rolled out its small block engines in the mid-1950s, Chevrolet gave owners the option of choosing either a small block or big block engine in their Corvettes from 1965-1974. The big block was still a popular choice back then, offering great torque and strength. However, heat was a major byproduct of the big block engine, with the ACs not being powerful enough to quickly dissipate the growing warmth inside the car. Therefore, before choosing a Corvette from 1965-1974, do check to see which engine it is working on.

Simple strategies to help you save money on car leasing deals

Often you might wonder if it is better to buy a car or lease one. Both have their merits and demerits but in this case, it simply comes down to your driving requirements. Buying a car is a long term investment and an expensive one at that. On the other hand, leasing a vehicle for a fixed duration doesn’t pressurize you to commit to one car. You can switch vehicles and get a better offer with a new one.

There are many ways you can save a few hundred bucks on car leasing deals. Check out these clever pay-off strategies.

    Paying more security deposit (refundable)
There is a legal requirement to pay up a certain amount of money upfront as part of car leasing deals. This deposit, combined with the total value of monthly payments and interest, will make up the total cost of leasing the car. However, when you are willing to pay a higher amount for the deposit, the lease company will offer a better deal with reduced installments and a cheaper interest rate. In financial terms, this consolidation is known as the money factor. A lower money factor automatically reduces the cost of the overall lease.

    Paying for the lease upfront
If you can afford to pay a major portion or even all of the lease upfront, you can get stellar car leasing deals from some of the most reputed companies. A single pay lease can save you the entire amount of interest right from the get-go. Another benefit of the single pay lease is that if you were not previously qualified for a good lease, companies will consider your application owing to the fact that you are willing to pay the lease cost upfront.

Extend your lease for a while
You might wonder how does extending a lease save you money. It doesn’t necessarily do so. But the extension will help you plan the next lease and avoid ending up taking car leasing deals that are simply not suited for your purpose. It is not uncommon to start panicking and take whatever deals come your way at the end of the first lease. However, by simply extending the tenure for a couple of months, you buy yourself time to make an informed decision and not rush into the next purchase.

    Find a lease takeover
In some scenarios, you may be paying the lease already but want to get out of the current one for a better deal or vehicle. However, early exits from car leasing deals can cost you a penalty. It is an expense that can be completely avoided by opting for a lease takeover. It is possible to list your lease online and any interested party can contact you with a deal via an agent. Websites like LeaseTraader.com, Quitalease.com, Leasequit.com, and Swapalease connect potential buyers and sellers directly to simply take over the lease deed or title. You can thus avoid any lease termination penalties and can book new car leasing deals right after the sale.

Key highlights of the 2019 Toyota Highlander

The 2019 Toyota Highlander is a great large size SUV that redefines adventure driving. It has a stunning feature- rich interior design that beautifully complements the bold and tough exterior. The Highlander dominates the asphalt with an all-wheel drive and also handles uncertain roads and driving conditions.

Check out what more the Highlander has to offer both under the hood and inside the luxurious yet budget-friendly build.

    Feature-rich interior
Stay plugged in with all your favorite electronic devices with all kinds of external ports made available on the central dash. Plus, the interior is layered with silencing materials for insulation along the floor to give you the quietest ride possible. There is a comfortable seating space for a total of 8 people with reclining third-row seats. When you plan to ride solo and haul some luggage, just fold down the extra seats to create a massive cargo space. Above all, one of the key highlights of the premium SUV is the panoramic moonroof that opens up to give you a spectacular view of the night sky.

    Unmatched performance
Direct is the most apt reference when it comes to the engine configuration of the 2019 Toyota Highlander. We are talking about Direct-fuel injection and Direct Shift 8AT automatic transmission. Both components are built to handle the massive torque and power generated by the 3.5L V6 engine. But even with all power under the hood, the Highlander maintains a 21/27 mileage estimated for city/highway driving all day long. And if you are worried about emissions, the Highlander’s MPG meets EPA standards to earn an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) rating.

    Automatic stop and start feature
The engines can start and switch off on their own depending on when the vehicle is stationary and needs to move. For example, while stopping at a red light, the automatic feature cuts power and saves fuel, especially at longer intersections. And simply releasing the brake pedal will trigger the engine to start on its own. This is one of the reasons for the Highlander being extremely fuel efficient.

    Dynamic control torque
The main advantage of an all-wheel drive is superior control in multiple driving modes and road conditions. The Toyota Highlander features a Dynamic Torque Control system that uniformly distributes the engine’s power across all four wheels. If the ride gets too bumpy, the onboard sensors adjust the power to ensure the vehicle maintains a proper driving line and control. The dynamic control also adjusts braking accordingly to ensure a smooth ride on rough and uncertain terrain.

    Towing capacity
If you thought the Highlander is just another large size SUV off the block, think again. With a maximum load of nearly 5000 lbs, the 2019 Toyota Highlander is also built for towing. So the next time you plan a nice weekend getaway out in the woods, hook up your camper van to the back of the car, and off you go!

  • Tips before trying makeup testers in stores

Before buying a cosmetic product, most of us tend to swoop down on the counter at the store where we get to try on the testers. However, after we have tied them out, more often than not we end up feeling guilty for three reasons, two of them being that the tester didn’t match out skin tone or texture and we couldn’t apply it well. However, what we overlook is the question as to how hygienic the tester really is. Although it is obvious that we don’t feel satisfied to buy products without trying them out, we certainly would think twice or thrice before trying on eye shadows or lip lipsticks which have been used before. In fact, according to statistics, half of the testers have been discovered to be crammed with Strep and E. Coli bacteria, having been heavily contaminated due to the heavily varied use. One can even get pink eye or a virus like hepatitis. Listed below are some tips before trying testers:

Be safe, try personal: Popular stores would be ready to prepare personal testers for their customers, especially for products such as lipsticks, going in from dipping and spraying the shade with alcohol. Alcohol Sanitizer wipes are also available these days, with which one could scrape off the top most layer of the product, the used part, and use the unused one below. Trying products with disposable or brushes is also recommended. Sharpening the top layer is also good enough as all the contamination are deposited on the surface layer.

Don’t try anything open: Don’t try anything or everything that comes in an open pot or jar. Most people out of fascination dip their own fingers into the product and try it out on their faces, such as face lotions, lip gloss or loose powdered eye shadow. Disposable cotton bud or pads are good to go.

The trying areas: For the cheeks products like foundation, blush or face glitter, always use the back of your palm as the testing place and now your cheeks or the jawline. Don’t try any eye makeup either, such as pencil eyeliners or kajal – use the back of your hand for that too. This area also helps you identify how soft the bristles are by just drawing fine lines on your skin. If you really want to try on eye products, sanitize the tip with clinical alcohol. Unless and until the sale staff offers you clean fresh sample testers, do not indulge in putting anything on your face. Chances of infections such as zits is very high.

Days of the week: Try visiting cosmetic stores on weekdays because weekends are too crowded for the staff to be paying complete attention to what kind of testers they’re giving you.

Be smart and follow these tips to stay safe from infections from testers.
